I am "me" and I am special!
1st graders are learning that it is okay to be different. . . that's what makes us all so special. While reading "Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon" we discussed how important it is to remember that we all have great qualities about ourselves and we should never let others make us believe otherwise. Students also had the chance to share something they like about themselves. This actually proved to be a great challenge for several children. To help children feel good about themselves, share what you feel makes him or her special, and have them share their own thoughts about why they are special, what accomplishments they are proud of, and what they see as positive traits within themselves.
